Melody Memories

Melody Memories is a singing group specifically designed for people with memory problems and their carers. Prosper Communities CIC are very grateful to the Waverley Voluntary Partnership whose grant enables Melody Memories, Haslemere and Melody Memories, Cranleigh to run every fortnight.

All you need is the will to join in ! If you have memory problems or care for someone who does, then Melody Memories is for you.

Not just a singing group – The therapeutic power of music is widely acknowledged and every Melody Memories session is designed specifically to benefit the cognitive, social and motor skills of people with memory problems. However, Melody Memories also provides carers with a much needed outlet for relaxing, laughing, information sharing and a chance to talk with others in the same boat.

Led by an experienced musician, and the Melody Memories Co-ordinator, the style, era and tempo of the songs sung varies each week according to the preferences of those who attend. Group members are encouraged to join in but there is never any pressure to do so. Everyone’s participation is enjoyed and valued.

Having memory problems or being a carer can be tough at times but a morning at Melody Memories provides both the carer and the cared for person with a chance not only to sing together but also to laugh together, to be happy together and to enjoy the company of others, together. That’s the stuff memories are made of…..
